SUBJECT: Letter of Instruction, Veteran’s Day Parade, 11 November 2009

TO:  Parade Participants

Here are some details you will find helpful for participating in this year’s parade. Please read carefully, comply, and share with members of your group. There are several big changes this year.  First, the route has changed. Second, we’re having the parade in the middle of the week. Third, we are starting an hour earlier.

Route:  we are marching from Loretto Town Centre north on Church St, east on Hadley, right on Campo and back to Loretto.  So, Loretto will be both the Assembly Area and Dismount Point. We have arranged for participants to park vehicles west of Loretto at the Wells Fargo Bank parking lot. Please park vehicles at Wells Fargo instead of at Loretto to ease congestion there. As usual, there will be two portable toilets at the north end of the parking lot.

Date:  To avoid conflict with the Renaissance Faire, we have decided to hold the parade on 11 November this year.  That’s a Wednesday.  Schools, government offices, banks, and many other offices will be closed, so we hope turnout will improve.

Time:  Due to feedback from participants last year, we have moved the parade start time up one hour, so it starts this year at 0850. That means participants must be assembled at Loretto no later than 0750.

Any unregistered group or registered group arriving late will be placed at the end of the parade.

During the parade, be sure to maintain a 15-step interval from the unit ahead of you. If they stop, you stop. Don’t bunch up. That way the parade will be a more enjoyable experience for those observing.

If you are reading this, you’ve already found our website. This site will continue to have updated parade information. It’s www.lascrucesvetday.org. Call me at 649-3995 with any questions after you’ve had a look at the website.

Have a great time and know that by participating in this event you are joining the rest of America in honoring the sacrifices of Veterans for the last 234 years!

Thank you for your continued dedication to a worthwhile undertaking.

Best Regards,

Bob Jeska
